Claddagh Hill Farm


Our small farming operation is seeking a farmer who is interested in sustainability, permaculture, food production, and food sales. As a farmer and producer, you will assist our farm and kitchen teams in gardening and hydroponics planting and harvesting, barn chores and animal care, value-added kitchen production, and farm stand management. Our new team member will work closely with our head farmer on current and new projects and should be open to and enthusiastic about learning new skills.   • Plant, transplant, fertilize, apply natural pesticides, water, prune, and weed

  • Learn/apply hydroponic practices, and apply knowledge of planting methods and materials

  • Perform post-harvest duties, such as processing value-added products (e.g., canning, jam-making, pickling, and preparing produce/eggs) for consumption and sale

  • Assist in various maintenance activities as required (e.g., maintain agricultural structures)

  • Help develop and grow future agricultural operations

  • Assist in care for live animals (e.g., feedings, cleaning barn, moving animals)

  • Assist in barn and barnyard maintenance

  • Assist in operating farming machinery

  • Alert head farmer to problems regarding the condition of the animals or general environment

  • Learn/apply additional skills, such as milking, grooming, and shearing

  • Assist/work alongside a Head Chef and Pastry Cook in general food prep


  • Possess an enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture, food security, and hard work

  • Display responsibility, integrity, initiative, creativity, reliability and a strong work ethic

  • Adaptable and willing to wear many hats; Possess an enthusiasm for varied work opportunities

  • Knowledge of permaculture and horticultural methods, materials, and cultivation

  • General experience with animal interaction and care

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade

  • Ability to perform grounds maintenance tasks

  • Physical strength and stamina (e.g., the ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects)

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures

  • A practical mind, strong problem-solving skills, and organizational competence

  • The ability to work well both independently and as a team member

  • Food Safety training, which may be obtained on-job

  • Willingness to learn new skills and self-educate
