JOB SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Use numerous tools to install and service electrical systems

  • Observe company safety guidelines

  • Document each project, update client records, and provide material cost and time estimates

  • Possess sound knowledge of craft and ability to transfer knowledge and skill to apprentices 

  • Diagnose electrical faults with ease

  • Provide excellent customer service  

  • Read blueprints and use diagnostic tools

  • Make decisions under pressure 

  • Install, repair, and service electrical systems

  • Source or fabricate replacement electrical components

  • Interpret blueprints and draw rough sketches when required

  • Guide and oversee other apprentices or journeyman electricians

  • Draw up preventative maintenance measures and explain these to clients and other electricians

  • Obtain required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects

  • Test and troubleshoot systems

  • Assist during emergencies

  • Update project records and prepare relevant documents and reports for clients

  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and other electricians

 

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Relevant license or certification 

  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis

  • At least 3-5 years of experience as an electrician 

  • Own and operate your own truck that has the capabilities to transport materials

  • Dependable and strong work ethic

  • Possession of a valid driver's license

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check

  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check

  • Considerable physical activity: Requires heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.

  • Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or some college experience

  • Energetic with the ability to manage work independently
